OMEGA MARINE CHRONOMETER

Rare Omega Marine Chronometer ref. 198.0082 from year 1977. Full-set, box and papers. Original black tritium-dial and hands. Steel-gold case is in very good condition. Movement is Omega Marine Chronometer cal. 1516. At time of writing, movement has a daily variation of zero seconds per day.

Watch comes with original Omega steel bracelet. Caseback bears a engraving by first owner (same as in purchase papers). Case size is 32,7 x 44mm.

Watch comes with following documents: Besançon Observatory rating certificate (1977), position/temperature/stress chart with results, purchase reciept from 1982, Finnish document by Perkko Oy about Marine Chronometer accuracy and red Omega box. Box itself is in poor conditon.

Watch has 6-months service warranty.

Omega Marine Chrnonometer Megaquarz 2400 is still worlds most accrurate, non-temperature compensated, wristwatch. Its movement structure is different to any other quarz movement that Omega has ever made. Movement was produced in three different versions: cal. 1510, 1511 and 1516.

In Besançon Observatory watches were tested for magnetism, mechanical stress and daily variation’s in different temperatures. Total test time was 63 days. All passed movements recieved hand written and numbered certificate. Passed movements were used in Marine Chrnometer models and each case had a gold plague with movement number engraved in it. Total number of movements that were tested and passed in Besançon Observatory is 5682 pc.
