Omega introduced the new Seamaster 300 model in 1964. The previous 39 mm steel case grew to a size of 42 mm. The bezel also became significantly larger. The watch was still available either with date (cal.565) or no-date (cal.552) versions.

Omega used two types of dials with this watch. Basic model found on this watch, and the so-called Big Triangle model, that had a large triangle-shaped tritium index at the 12 o’’clock mark. It was previously thought that military divers used only the Big Triangle model, but it has been later confirmed, that both models were used by the military.
