Seamaster 300 with Ethiopian history

According to Omega museum Extract from the Archives certificate, this watch was delivered to Ethiopia in October 1968. Elderly gentleman who sold this watch to us said, that he had bought it new, but didn’t remember when.

It is likely that this watch ended up in Finland either through Finland’s development cooperation or through the good work of the Finnish Evangelical Lutheran Mission.

Finland established diplomatic relations with Ethiopia in 1959 and set up an embassy in Addis Ababa in 1965. It was the first Finnish embassy in Africa. Development cooperation with Ethiopia started in 1967. From those years onward there were regular traffic from Finland to Ethiopia.

The Finnish Evangelical Lutheran Mission started cooperation with the Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus in 1969.
